The Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae is another story something like Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, in that, Gerald the Giraffe just can't dance because his legs are too long so he doesn't fit in and all the other animals make fun of him. However, he finally learns that if he changes the song, he can dance as good as the others. This beautiful, pictured, board book is an introduction to the lesson that it's okay to not fit in perfectly. It's okay to be different! As this book is read, even a two year old will absorb the idea. It's a happy book with a nice ending!
What we like: We like this book because it does teach an important lesson about life. Children have too much peer pressure nowadays so learning this lesson early can save them a lot of stress later in their life. Our little boy claps at the end of this story every time we read it to him.
The If Animals Kissed Good Night by Ann Whitford Paul is a charming bedtime story book. The story is that a mother and her child begin to wonder how animal-mothers say good night to their young. This book uses colorful pictures along with rhymes to deliver a heart warming story of love among animals. This book is filled with beautiful illustrations and soothing colors meant to lull a two-year old to sleep.
What we like: We like that this book is designed for the purpose of helping a child go to sleep with the gentle rhymes and soft colors. This is our child's favorite bedtime story book.

What we like: We like that the Collection of Stories for 2 Year Olds by Parragon Books is so well illustrated and the stories seem to have been shortened so that our child stays interested until the end. A great little book!
The ChickaChicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault book has more than a cute title, it has a ingenious way of rhyming letters that is more like a fun game than it is like reading. Any child will enjoy listening to mom or day as they read out loud the rhyming letters and point to the colorful letters on the pages. It's surprising how quickly two-year olds pick up the alphabet when it's presented as a fun, rhyming activity!
What we like: We like that the ChickaChicka Boom Boom book uses rhymes to introduce the alphabet and the rhymes are fun for our child to repeat. He just loves this book!
The Little Hands My First Scribble by ALEX Toys is a sturdy fifty page activity book with an activity on each page and each page is made of heavy duty paper. Little boys and girls can scribble, doodle, draw, and color the pictures. This kit also comes with seventy colorful stickers that can be placed on the pages. This is great for those rainy days or long rides in the car. Can also take this to grandma's house for an overnight.
What we like: We like that the paper pages are extra thick so they don't tear because our little boy is rough with his toys.
The First 100 Numbers, Colors, Shapes by Roger Priddy is a great starter book for a little child. Priddy has taken data from numerous studies in order to compile the first 100 numbers, colors, and shapes that every little child learns. With this book, a parent will know in advance what the child will be learning so why wait? Get the child started, give the child a head start. Children that are taught these 'first 100' do better in school, often at the head of their class.
What we like: We like knowing in advance what our daughter needs to learn and the First 100 Numbers, Colors, Shapes give us the opportunity to give her a big head start in school.
The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen is an extraordinary tale about a pouting fish swimming in the sea. All his fish-friends try to cheer him up and the rhymes and rhythm goes on and on. This is a delightful story book with several lessons: don't be sad, be happy, and cheer up your friends. Besides the lessons, this book is very colorful with great artwork, it's fun to read to the child and every child will enjoy the story.
What we like: We like that the artwork in The Pout-Pout Fish is so silly and funny that it catches our son's attention and he listens carefully to the words that are being read aloud.
