The Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae is another story something like Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, in that, Gerald the Giraffe just can't dance because his legs are too long so he doesn't fit in and all the other animals make fun of him. However, he finally learns that if he changes the song, he can dance as good as the others. This beautiful, pictured, board book is an introduction to the lesson that it's okay to not fit in perfectly. It's okay to be different! As this book is read, even a two year old will absorb the idea. It's a happy book with a nice ending!
What we like: We like this book because it does teach an important lesson about life. Children have too much peer pressure nowadays so learning this lesson early can save them a lot of stress later in their life. Our little boy claps at the end of this story every time we read it to him.
Almost an encyclopedia for babies? Well, almost. The National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Why presents tons and tons of 'Why' type of questions that little children love to ask and parents cringe at answering. We cringe because, either we don't know the answer exactly or the answer is too complex for a little child. This book has the answers. Example, 'Why are some animals big and some animals small?'. This book may answer like this: 'Because there are all kinds of animals in the world, some big and some small'. For adults, that doesn't really answer the question, but for little children, it it a very good answer; they kind of answer they want. This book will help any little child learn hundreds of things faster than other children and might even go to the head of their class!
What we like: We like that this book gives our little girl the right type of answers for her. Simple and to the point. She loves it!!
The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone is a popular book that even many adults have read when they were children or their parent read it to them. It is a delightful story narrated by Grover, the cute furry, little monster from the children's TV series Sesame Street. All through this book, Grover begs the reader NOT to turn the next page because there is a monster at the end of the book. Everyone will be surprised when they see the monster! A lovable book.
What we like: We like that the story in this book is narrated by Grover because our son already knows Grover and loves him. Our son picks this book up at least once a week just to flip through the pages.

Getting a small child ready for bed can be chore that parents abhor. Many children just want to stay up like the adults, they don't want to miss anything and they don't want the fun of their day to end. The Going-to-Bed Book by Sandra Boynton is a book that makes getting ready for bed fun. It is a bedtime book that tells a rhyming story of an ark full of silly looking animals all getting ready for bed. They bath, they brush, they put on their pajamas, then they rock themselves to sleep. This is a 14 page, board book and we think it is a winner!

Happy Birthday to You! by Dr. Seuss comes from a long line of well known and highly regarded books by Dr. Seuss. In it's usual style, this book starts with a rhyme: 'I wish we could do what they do in Katroo'. This type of beginning will get a child smiling right from the first page. And since this book is about 'Happy Birthday', it goes on to say things like: 'There is no one alive that is you-er than you!'. All children like Dr. Seuss. This is a board book with twelve pages and we say that's top rated!
What we like: We like the theme that there is no one alive more you'er than you. We want to teach our son that his individuality is precious.
The Press Here by HerveTullet book is a bit of a magic. When you press the yellow dot it changes color and instructs you to flip the page. The next page might also have a dot for you to press, but instead of turning color, it changes into ten dots all over the page. Each page has a new surprise. This is a fun book for a long drive in the car, a rainy day game, or even to take over to grandma's house for an overnight. This book is a very good deal!!!
